Whether you have a retail business with a shipping and receiving area or a business that otherwise has a need for a large entry way, commercial garage doors sure do make your everyday tasks easier in general. However, commercial garage doors can also be quite the investment, and you will no doubt want to get the most out of your money. Unfortunately, a lot of business owners see their commercial garage doors fail a lot faster than they really should. Take a look at these common reasons why a commercial garage door does not last long enough in a business setting before it needs to be replaced. 

The garage doors are not given enough maintenance attention. 

With everyday business taking up so much time, it is easy to neglect the maintenance of the garage doors you have in building. However, this can be a costly mistake to make if you want to protect your investment. A few general maintenance tasks that should never be avoided or neglected include:

1. Keeping the tracks of the garage door free from dirt and debris.
2. Properly lubricating the moving parts of the garage door, such as the hinges, springs, and rollers. 
3. Occasionally tightening all hardware on the garage door. 

The garage doors are not properly used to avoid damage. 

It may just be a garage door, but even this building component does have rules for regular use to prevent damage. For example, putting too much pressure on one side of the door because the door is being manually opened by something other than the handle can put a lot of stress on the door itself and cause the tracks to break and door jams to occur more frequently. Make sure you and all of your employees are using the door in proper ways to get the most years of use from it. 

The garage doors are not fixed when small problems come up. 

If a seemingly small issue comes up with the garage doors you have in your business, you may be tempted to put aside calling maintenance for a while. Yet, this could very well be a huge mistake. If a small component is causing problems, it could easily lead to bigger trouble and more costly repairs down the road. For example, if the door is not closing completely and there is a gap left at the base, this could be a sign that the torsion springs or cables need to be replaced.
